Tonsillitis
Tonsils are lymph structures located at the back of your throat. Viral or bacterial infection in the tonsils may cause inflammation causing tonsillitis. The main symptoms of tonsillitis include difficulty swallowing, sore throat and tender lymph nodes. Bacterial tonsillitis accounts for 15-30% of all cases of tonsillitis. Recurrent tonsillitis is when you encounter several episodes of tonsillitis in a year. When you have this form of chronic tonsillitis with more than three episodes in a year you should discuss with your doctor to determine if you are suffering from recurrent tonsillitis. This form of chronic tonsillitis occurs mainly due to microorganisms that have developed antibiotic resistance due to past infections. The condition may also have a genetic background.
