Otitis Media with Effusion (Glue Ear)

This is a condition where the middle ear becomes filled with fluid often as a result of infection or eustachian tube dysfunction. It leads to impaired conduction of sound through the middle ear leading to a conductive hearing loss. Common symptoms include hearing loss, ear fullness, and ringing.

In Paediatrics, Glue ear is a buildup of fluid behind the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and can lead to hearing loss. This is a condition that is much more common in children and can lead to speech delay if not detected and treated early. Glue Ear can also cause ear pressure, irritable mood, poor concentration and trouble sleeping.
