  • Am I required to pay at the time of my visit to Pinnacle Surgery?

We require payment of all fees on the day of consultation. Please ensure you are able to cover your costs before visiting Pinnacle Surgery.
  • Will my Private Insurance cover any fees?

Private insurance will not cover our office consultation fees. Private insurance will generally only offer rebates for medical services provided while admitted as a hospital inpatient.
  • What if I have to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel or change your appointment we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice. We can then fill your appointment time with another patient. If you do not give us 24 hours notice a cancellation fee will apply.
  • Do I need a referral?

Anyone can visit the surgeons at Pinnacle Surgery, but to be able to claim a Medicare rebate, a valid referral from your GP or another specialist is required.
  • I don’t have private insurance; can I still visit Pinnacle Surgery?

Yes. Our surgeons also have appointments at six public hospitals located around Melbourne. If your condition requires surgical treatment, we can facilitate for this to occur at one of these public hospitals.
  • What do I need to bring for my visit to Pinnacle Surgery?

Your visit to Pinnacle Surgery will achieve the best outcome if you bring all medical investigations that you have had to date. Please ensure you have any x-rays or scans, any test results, and also your referral. We prefer the actual pictures of your x-rays or scans, which are sometimes loaded onto a CD for easy viewing. You should also bring a valid Medicare card, personal identification and your health fund details.
  • What is Nasendoscopy?

Nasendoscopy is the examination of your nasal cavity, sinuses, throat and larynx (voice box) with a flexible camera. For certain conditions, our surgeons may need to examine these areas for an accurate diagnosis of your condition. This examination will occur in the office. The camera will be gently placed through the nose after using a local anaesthetic spray. You will feel the camera passing through, but it is painless and only rarely uncomfortable. The local anaesthetic will wear off after about 20 minutes, following which you may resume normal eating and drinking.
  • What are the fees for surgery?

Fees for surgery are calculated on an individual basis depending on the nature and complexity of the surgery. Without a full diagnosis and assessment we cannot give quotes for surgery. Out-of-pocket costs, or gap costs, will vary depending on your health fund, and your level of insurance. We will be able to give an estimate of these costs once our surgeons have examined you, and a plan for surgery has been agreed upon.
  • Is there car parking available?

There is metered on-street parking around Pinnacle Surgery. There is also underground pay-by-the-hour parking at the Epworth Hospital accessible from Bridge Road.
